Sue Chamberlain, on behalf of the Manker Patten Tennis Club, accepts the USTA Facility of the Year Award from USTA President Lucy Garvin. This award was presented at the USOPEN/USTA annual meeting in NYC at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, NYC, 2008.
The USTA press release on August 28, 2008 reads:
“The USTA is proud of honor the Manker Patten Tennis Club for its commitment to providing the highest quality tennis experience, “ Kurt Kamperman, the USTA’s chief executive for community tennis,” said in the announcement release, which noted that the club “has historically been the cornerstone of tennis in Chattanooga.” The release cited the handicap and spa-friendly aspects of the renovated clubhouse, as well as numerous energy-efficient and other “eco-friendly” construction features plus high-tech offerings such as wireless networking and plasma TVs in the main areas and and locker room.
